FAQ
1
What is the goal of a SMAS presentation?
To connect the listener and others to their memories of earlier times through the use of music, storytelling and images.
2
How is the goal accomplished?
The presenter regularly uses stories, unknown facts, information about the music, the composers/singers lives and the settings of the day to prompt a connection to memories. The art of storytelling is a long standing art of connecting our histories to our current lives.
3
Have all 120 programs given in the past 24 months been given at no cost to retirement communities?
YES!! Sing Me a Story has never charged for any of its performances. Sing Me a Story is sustained by corporate sponsors, municipal grants and by local businesses who honor past customers who now reside in senior living centers.
4
Other than senior living centers, where has SMAS presented?
In addition to assisted living facilities and retirement communities, past performances include church and community organizations, clubs, lunch and dinner gatherings.
5
How long is a typical presentation and what is the expectation of a host organization
Each program is 35-45 minutes. A host organization is responsible for providing a large screen (usually a TV screen) with a HDMI connection and a microphone (some smaller areas may not need a microphone.) SMAS provides the laptop. Other AV equipment can provide for special needs of the event. No musical instruments are used. All music is prerecorded.
6
When do host facilities schedule a SMAS program?
SMAS programs are customized to fit the needs of the facility or group. SMAS has been used for Happy Hours, holiday celebrations, and as the ongoing entertainment of a life enrichment or activity director. Optimally, all programs should be scheduled at least one month out.
7
Does SMAS promote any political, religious or lifestyle agenda? Or does SMAS sell anything?
Absolutely not.
